About Jean Winfield

Jean Winfield is an advanced practice nurse, board certified as a family nurse practitioner. She has practiced and partnered with physicians to provide women's health care for adolescents and women of all ages for more than 17 years. She is known for her outstanding skills in assessing patients' needs, recommending sensible solutions, and effectively motivating patients to be active participants in their care.

Jean has received a number of honors and has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her accomplishments and commitment to service have been recognized by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for the Outstanding Health Professional Achievement Award and the Black Achiever's Award. The National Black Nurses Association has acknowledged her achievements by bestowing on her the Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year Award.

Jean has a strong commitment to sharing her professional expertise, which is demonstrated by her volunteer activities in the community. She has participated in a number of health presentations and panels across the country for a variety of organizations. She is the creator and organizer of F.A.T. (Flexibility, Aerobics and Toning) is Fitness, a free, comprehensive exercise and health class created to inspire women to take an active role in their overall health.

Jean provides gynecologic care through physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment, including prescribing medication, and patient education for disease prevention and management.

She received a bachelor's of nursing and master's of science from the University of Kansas. She has served as a clinical instructor, clinical preceptor and mentor. She also has specialized training and experience in the minimally invasive daVinci robotic surgery.
